I have a mother board that sata controller was set to ide initially with my old SSD and I made an image file of my win 7 64. I bought a new ssd and have set the BIOS to ahci mode. I want to restore the image file to the new drive and I was wondering if this might be an issue? Before I begin I was wondering if someone knows if this will be a potential problem?

i know theres a reg tweak you can do but i dont recommend changing anything in the registry , for more info on that..http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php?topic=6721.0

i dont think it will be a problem, you should be fine , the worst that will happen is it wont get past the boot screen then just switch back to ide or sata , if it fails your best off just re'installing windows onto the ssd using ahci mode (fresh install)

Thats what I was afraid of. I am aware that you have to reformat if changing bios from ide to ahci but I wasnt sure if you install new drive in pc and change bios to ahci annd reinstall windows from a backup image. The only thing is that image was from a drive that was in the computer with bios set to ide. Oh well wont be the first time ive started over...Thx for your help
