would i be able to overclock my fx8350 to 5ghz?
my motherboard is an asus M5A97 EVO R2.0
my cpu cooler is a cooler master hyper 212 evo and i never go over 60 degrees Celsius whilst my processor is clocked at 4.6ghz.
if the answer is yes please can you suggest a voltage to run it at
if the answer is no please can you tell me how high i could overclock and at what voltage
i have 3 stack case fans in the sharkoon t9 case (if that is relevant)

thanks in advance

No for overclocking to 5 ghz you need a 990fx board and a liquid cooler.
with your cooler i would say 4.4 to 4.5 is a safe oc and i think you have to bump up your voltage a bit for that between 1.356-1.368V.

You can always try. Up your core clock and test with prime 95 while monitoring your temperatures. Just make sure your temps don't get too high and don't go over 1.55v. If it gets too hot and/or unstable just bump it back down. Just make sure you step it up slowly. I don't think you can get it based on your current temps, but I am always in favor of trying a stupid high overclock. Oh, you may want too look up how to reset your cmos incase you cant post to bios at some point.

You can do it on a Big Air cooler also.

You need to have a good chip too.

What does it mean on prime 95 if a core stops running? Does it mean I have to add more voltage?

It means that the core is unstable. Adding voltage will help with stability but will also add heat, so keep an eye on temps whenever you add voltage. I would say 1.55v is the highest you should go, and that is assuming your temps allow you to get that high.

it means your cpu isn't stable. try different vcore and multiplier
