Hey, I've built a few PC's over the years so I have a good understanding how to do it, but know nothing too advanced. I bought a new case/modular PSU and took everything out of my old case and set everything up in my new case and when I power up the PC all of the fans will turn on for a few seconds and then turn off and nothing happens. I will pay someone $20-30 if they can help me troubleshoot this problem.

No need to pay, we're all here as a hobby, gladly helping when we can.

First thoughts:
-motherboard is shorting somewhere on the case
-PSU connections are not seated completely
-ram need to be re-installed, popped out while moving things around
-add a speaker and see what the beep code is, if any
-New PSU can't handle the build.

Yep. You do have integrated graphics.

I'd work on these:
-motherboard is shorting somewhere on the case, try 'breadboarding' to test.
-PSU connections are not seated completely, reseat them all to confirm they are pushed in enough.
-ram needs to be re-installed, may have popped out while moving things around
-add a mobo speaker and see what the beep code is, if any
-Is it possible the new PSU can't handle the build? Please list full system specs.

It's a brand new like $250 1000W PSU.

I have 16gb of ram, 2770k, and gtx 680 which isnt plugged in yet.

no post code shows up, it briefly lights up for a split second but turns off immediately. I have a small little speaker thing I can plug in directly to the mobo, but I doubt it would power up long enough for anything to happen. The computer literally turns on for a second, just enoug for the fans to start rotating, and then nothing happens.

Sounds like it was probably shorting on the case somewhere. Did you use the motherboard standoffs?

As for your CPU, that is a high temp for idle. It may be that when you removed the motherboard (or when installing it) you may have bumped the heatsink and broken the seal of the thermal paste. I'd first check and make sure the CPU heatsink is secured nice and tight. If it is secured but temps are still high, then I'd redo the thermal paste. Remove the heatsink, clean the CPU and the heatsink with rubbing alchohol, then apply a pea sized drop of thermal paste (you'll have to buy some if you don't have any) then reseat the heatsink.

The heatsink is tight, but I can wiggle it to the left back and forth a bit, but it seems secure. I don't have any thermal paste on me, you sure I'll have to reseat the heatsink and apply new thermal paste? I remember that thing being a huge bitch to install, it's been years now so I completely forget.

also, I just tried turning it on before I put it back in the case one last time and the fans went super crazy high and the CPU temp gave me the code A6

You're hitting 50c and you're just in the bios, that's pretty high. Are you overclocked? Should be 10-20c lower depending on your room temp. It's not a temp that's going to hurt anything, but when you start gaming it's going to shoot up to 70 at least. Still not dangerous temps, but certainly higher than need be. The first thing I'd do once you're up and running is see what temps you are hitting while gaming. If it's up in the 80c+ range, reseat the heatsink for sure. Personally I'd do it now regardless. 50c when only in bios is high especially if you aren't overclocked.

It usually idles @ 30c so yes, that's high. I edited my last post above, but I moved the heatsink around to see how secure it was, and then booted the computer again one last time before putting it back in my case and the fan got very loud and the CPU temp gave a bunch of different numbers all the way up to 99 and then just gave me the code A6 while the fan was going @ max speed. It keeps doing it, and now I'm worried.

Ah.. dang. Yeah I know how to apply thermal paste.. but meh money isn't an issue for me and I hate this Cooler Master Hyper 212 or whatever it's called, it honestly doesn't make it that cool at all. Do you know of any other good CPU coolers that are good and not extremely complicated? Money isn't really an issue, but don't really want to spend over a $100 on it. To be honest I'm mainly just scared of trying to get this dang thing on/off, it's terrible, plus I'd like to OC my CPU, and want it to be a lot lower temps.

This one is probably the best there is for air cooling. It is ugly as hell, but nothing beats it for performance and noise.

The question is, will it fit in your case. You need 165 mm for it to fit, it is a monster. Your case's homepage sometimes give you the information on max cpu cooler height supported.

It has the same installation process as the hyper 212 evo you are using. You have to attach a backplate to the back of your motherboard. Some cases have a big enough opening to allow you to do it with the motherboard installed in the case, but usually it's best to take the motherboard out to install the cooler, as you will be needing to clean the CPU with rubbing alchohol.

If looks matter, then the V8 from CM look kinda nice

I doubt that would fit, I can't even have two fans on my current cooler because of the RAM to the right, so I have to put my fan on the left. Do you know of any smaller ones? Also, I have a CM Storm Trooper

That is a massive case. Lots of room.
CPU cooler height: 186 mm / 7.3 in supported.

In order to clear your ram, they made it so you can adjust the height of the fan on the heatsink and allow you to move it above your ram. This also makes it taller of course, but you have 21mm of clearance room, so unless you have really high profile ram, you'll be fine with this cooler.

See the fan on the right? That can be moved up to clear the ram.

Tell you what, post a new thread asking this exact question just to get a 2nd opinion. Tell them your case model, the cooler you are looking at Nh-D15 and that picture of your ram. I'm positive it will fit, but someone may see something I'm not seeing. Would hate for you to spend $100 and have it not fit.

You are socket 1155 right?
