I have a Rode shotgun mic with an impedance of 200 Ohms, Ive seen online that smartphones need it to be at least 1000 Ohm for the device to see it as a microphone, however when i tested it, it appeared to work fine but ive been told I need to match the impedance or it could damage my phone if I run it for a long period of time due to overloading certain components (I am using a Galaxy Note II). Ive got a cable i can slice into and add a resistor if necessary, I was just hoping for some clarification before i do this. Rather safe than sorry. Thanks guys.
