I am going to purchase a new pc or build my own im at right around 1k and from what ive been searching ive came up with these two options. Im not a hardcore gamer at all i just need a new pc because I cant edit any video on my current computer. But I may possibly play a game here or there but want to be maybe future proof for maybe 4 years.

I am going to install an ssd on either system as I already have one.

1. Dell xps 8700
XPS 8700

Or Build this system for around 1k something like this

pc build

What do do think is my best option? Is that XPS 8700 a good deal as is?

Solution

A build all about overclocking?!

The extra ram i get with the editing.
The better gpu is a good choice too.
For just $5 more could i even understand the choice for the 850watt psu if you were thinking about sli for the future.
And the other case fine.
But otherwise would my choices be fine and save quite an amount of money.

For $1000 go with either this two.

How much is having the ability to call Dell for help worth? That needs to be factored into the value of the pre-built. For $1K you can build a very nice PC with components optimized for your task. For instance the Dell doesn't have an SSD. I personally would NOT have a PC without an SSD. The boot speed and application load speed is a requirement for me.

Not a cpu for overclocking, but it has hyper threading which might help with the editing. It also has no igp-integrated graphics.
This gpu should do fine for your game wishes.
You could do crossfire in the end if you wanted that.
look for a case that you like too. This one has a window and led fans, the leds in the fans fans can be disabled.
If you have no desire for crossfire could you do with a cheaper motherboard and psu too.
for a psu,
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-power-supply-p1550bbefx
or a nice 750watt,
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-power-supply-110b20750vr
a nice motherboard,
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asrock-motherboard-h97performance
with no crossfire option and these in should you be up to $930 for the build.

Guys I think I will spend a little bit more money I came up with this configuration is it a nice set up? I already have an SSD at home and the OS as well so dont think i forgot to grab them. If you have any opinions on things i can change out?

Oh and I dont intend to over clock anything
My future build
