USB Driver problem

I recently installed a new hard drive and re-installed Windows 7 64 bit with all the Windows updates. All seems to be working except my USB ports. They recognize my mouse, SD/CF card reader, and previously removed hard drive, but do not seem to detect a portable thumb drive, external hard drive, or USB 3.0 card that were previously working fine. The error message I get is ...The driver for the USB controller is not installed (Code 28)... Install the latest driver for the device.... I ran the driver update/ troubleshooting tasks, but no driver was found/installed. l also looked at the motherboard's website and tried a couple drivers, but did not see one for the "USB controller" and the ones I tried didn't seem to work. Has anyone had this problem or know where to look for the correct driver/name? I can't find my original driver disk that came with my motherboard. I originally built the computer, but haven't had this problem before.

Specs.
ASUS P5Q deluxe
Windows 7 64bit

I believe the chipset drivers are installed. I tried the ones from Asus and Intel, but still it can't find the drivers for the USB controller. Any idea what the filename is it should be looking for or how to locate the right drivers?

Still no luck. I removed the USB 3.0 card and USB drivers and re-installed just the Intel chipset drivers for the USB 2.0 ports and re-booted. Now, no USB devices work, not even the USB mouse which was working before. Any suggestions? Could it be a corrupt Windows installation/update or some other software/driver conflict? Re-install Windows?
