I have a 8-pin CPU power in my motherboard.
My power supply cable has only 2 4-pin wires.
When I plug in 4 pins only, it works.
When I plug in 2 4 pins, it works too.
Which setup is more recommended?

When I plug in 2 4 pins, it works too. < if available you should always use both , keeps the setup stable.

The second 4 pin often allows for increased voltage situations such as turbo or overclocking. Or in some cases even stock clocks, SR-71 is very correct.

Does it work for motherboards too? My motherboard is a 28 pin motherboard and i have a 24 and 4 pin wire. Is it better to put in both or just the 24 pin wire only? The 4 pin does not have a lock, it can be pulled out easily.
