Hello, I have Rosewill R5 Black ATX gaming Case, and I have encountered a few problems. My three, built in, fans will not run when the PC is operating. I have all the fans plugged in correctly, at least i think so.
I have another question. I am currently using a Magnavox TV Monitor as my PC monitor and my current microphone/headphones are the Beats Tours. And on the case it has a microphone and a headphone jack. If i plug my headphones into the headphone jack i can only hear, not use my mic. If i plug it into the microphone jack nothing happens, no sound or any sign of my microphone working.
Please Please Help!

If any of my other parts could come in handy while solving my problems... well here they are.
Gigabyte z97x-SLI
R9 280x
Intel i5 4670k
Rosewill R5 Black ATX gaming case
Windows 8.1

If any other information you need please just reply and tell me i will get back to you ASAP

I'm not familiar with case fan controllers because I've only used one once several years ago, and I didn't have to connect it, it was already done fore me. There might be some sort of molex adapter that came with the case that you might need? I wish I could help but without a case manual or a good view of the controller itself I'm as lost as you are there, maybe someone else can help you out? Sorry!

If you only think you have everything correctly connected, you should probably double-check. Can you provide a picture of the motherboard with it's connectors clearly visible. as well as the motherboard's model?

as for sound, if it's from the back panels that you are having problems you may have to download specific drivers from the motherboard or sound card manufacturer's website before they start working, and if you are talking about the front case header for the ports, you may have just missed that connector when plugging everything in.

What cords am i supposed to have plugged in and where are they supposed to be?! Because i see one yellow/black/red coming off from each case fan and i have them plugged into a cord coming from the top of the case that has three adapters just for the fan cord!
As for the sound i cant find a driver or anything like that at all would you provide a link?

You can double-check where the fans are supposed to be plugged in using the case manual. Typically it's better to connect the fans to the motherboard though and not the power supply, as the motherboard will allow automatic speed control based on system temperature, rather than running at 100% all the time. If they're just regular case fans, your motherboard should have several 4-pin connectors for the fans, one is between the CPU and the audio/LAN ports, another is by the RAM slots, and a third is down by the front USB header pinouts. I'm not sure about that if they're high-power, LED, or other types of atypical case fans, so consult the case manual if you're not sure.

Double check and make sure the S/PDIF cable is securely attached to the motherboard, though it's weird that your headphones work and your mic doesn't.

Sound: you would get the driver from the manufacturer's website if you're using built-in audio, find your motherboard model here: http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/support-downloads.aspx If you're having trouble with a PCI sound card, you'll need to provide the model of that or try using any CD that might have come with it.

You just might be the answer to my prayers, but since i am a complete dummy with computer parts, I do not know where to plug the fans into. I thought that they i just had to plug them into the female adapter coming from the top of the case where i think its the fan controller. The case fans just have a three pin connector and on the mother board its all 4-pin. Am i missing a plug-in? I probably am but i have no idea where it would be or what it looks like. And when i received my computer case i never got a manual! I should of done something about it months ago but i really did not think to.

the 3-pin fans can hook into the 4-pin connectors, you just have to make sure you connect pin 1 with the corresponding pin 1 on the 3-pin fan connector. The plastic tab on the motherboard should line up with 3 pins you need to connect yours to, so don't ignore that tab. You can check out the manual for a better view if you're having a hard time seeing it, they label it nice and clear for you. It's on page 24: http://www.cclonline.com/content/pdfs/0cv9ctzHBkz0TpSzK9bArw-3d-3d.pdf

Oh my gosh it works! I'm sorry to be such a hassle but i have one last question. How do i hook the fans up to the fan speed controller at the top of the case.

There is a fan speed controller in the case? This is news to me, I had taken a look at the product page on Rosewill's site and they made no mention of a fan controller. There should be a power connector into the fan controller, and then you would plug the fans into the controller and not the PSU or motherboard.

Yea, at the top of the case there is a knob to control the fans in the case. But if i plug the fan power cords into the connector from the top of the case nothing happens, but since i plugged them into the motherboard they all work.

And if you know anything about windows 8.1 please look at this thread for me! http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2289268/uefi-firmware-fix.html?xtor=RSS-9990 If you don't it's fine

Does the fan controller have any other lights or display that indicates whether or not it has power?

Unofruntately I do not know much about the BIOS vs UEFI settings, they should just be there, unless you need to update the bios first (it's possible if the first version didn't support it). You have double checked to make sure it's not located in some other odd place that makes no sense to you? I've had that happen a lot :p

From what it looks like i do not see any LED being lit up, as a matter a fact i do not see any LED for the knob at all! and no that makes absolutely zero sense to me

I've looked at a few images I could find and it doesn't look like it has any sort of power indicator. It may not be receiving power though, which would explain why it doesn't work when plugged in that way. You're sure you were plugging everything into the right ports with the controller? If so it may be defective, maybe you can get an exchange where you bought it? Otherwise an RMA would take a long time...
