the 280x is a quite powerful graphics card. it will not be obsolete for at least another few years.

you can probably see 5 years.... i mean you'll see it slow down in gaming performance in about 2 compared to the competition, but you should see another 3 after that...........

nobody is going to know. but considering many AAA games will be also released on the ps4/xbone, the performance scaling and coding efficiency should be very good so i would guess at least 2 years. even a gtx580 can still run games at medium and its almost 4 years old. the gtx680(rebaranded now as the 770) is 2.5 years old and can pretty much max out all games still, like your 280x.

It'll last you ultra for next 1 and a half years, medium for the next 1 or 2, then low for the next 2 maybe

Everything is pure speculation. GPU performance could increase drastically in the next few years, or it could increase slower. Also depends on what future games you'll eventually want to play, and if you decide to up the resolution down the road. There's no way of knowing for sure, so just buy the best you can afford and you'll upgrade again when you're ready.
