Hello all, this issue has been going on for about a month now and I haven't been able to resolve it despite multiple attempts. The system was recently put together and is running Windows 7 professional. Here is whats going on:

1) netflix plays for a short time then goes to a black screen in all browsers

2) games such as BF4 and The Sims play for a short time before freezing the machine. Even the task manager doesnt respond and machine has to be restarted.

I uninstalled/re-installed silver light and chrome and the netflix issue got slightly better. The videos played much longer before going to the black screen, but it still happens. I re-installed BF4 via origin and updated to the newest radeon beta drivers. The game still crashes randomly and freezes the machine without any error message. I am hoping i can find some suggestions here before I resort to a reinstall of windows. Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

with netfilx is could be bad video card ram or bad ram on your pc. as the movie is downloaded to your pc.
start with the motherboard make sure it has the newest bios to rule out a bios bug. then make sure it not over clocked. if it an asus bios make sure it in standard mode. turn on xmp profile for the ram and use cpu-z to read ram speed see if the mb set the ram speed up right. if the movie software hangs again, pull one of the ram dimms see if it runs or hangs sooner then switch ram sticks. if it still hangs if your mb has onboard video try using it see if the service will work. if you are using and intel ipgpu or and amd one look in the bios and see what the ram setting is for the gpu if it set to 32 or 64k try using 512 setting see if more video ram will work.

Thank you for the quick reply. I'll give the ram a try ASAP. For what it's worth it's an Asrock motherboard and an Amd processor. I don't know the specifics offhand but it has an r9 270 gpu. I'll report back after trying it.
