On boot , the gpu fans start and then they stop and it flashes the f1 fan error page. I've never had an issue like this with a graphics card before and when I bypass and boot from the main drive, it returns me to the f1 screen. Is this like a CPU issue where the fan threshold needs adjusted? Also, on first boot it asked me to connect the additional power source plug on the card, which I've never used before either. Any thoughts?

Solution
make sure on your build on the mb the 8 pin cpu power connected that where some of the power for the video card comes from. if the video card you have needs more power then the video card slot can give it have a 6 or 8 pin power plug on it. look at the install guild for the card see if the card has one. if the system post with the gpu out with no errors...on first post you have to go in and set the bios to default and save your settings. (time/ram speed). if not you get the asus splash screen and the message to hit f1 to go into the bios. (make sure you have the newest Z97M-PLUS BIOS 2202 installed to rule out a bios bug..download the bios file to a usb stick and use the mb bios updater.
