Upgraded from a Radeon HD 6950 2GB to an r9 290 recently and I now suddenly have one really annoying issue. Whenever I have my secondary monitor which is an HP 2159m (around 4-5 years old) and it goes to sleep like normal but when I try to wake it up I hear the windows 7 driver disconnect/reconnect sound, the display hangs at black for a second or two, it finally wakes up with everything frozen because windows explorer has crashed and I need to reset it. I've done multiple test to confirm it is in fact my secondary older monitor and not my newer primary one including switching the DVI ports for each one..etc. Only thing I haven't tried yet is using HDMI because I don't have a long enough cord, i'll get one a bit later but I doubt that will fix the problem.

I am currently using AMD driver version 14.4, when I used beta drivers 14.7 issues got even worse, when it would go to sleep I would hear the driver disconnect/reconnect sound on loop nonstop.

all I really want to know if anyone knows about/has this issue and maybe has some type of "fix" that doesn't involve just "not putting it to sleep" or "turning off sound" I am very aware that it could be just my monitor being old, but I really don't have the money to replace it right now and the need for a secondary monitor for me is petty much mandatory now.
