Just want to start this off by saying I don't have much experience in computers due to this one being given to me.

So I have a PC with a GTX 780 ti and I am wanting to use 2 monitors. I am already using the DVI D input on the GPU, If i was to go and buy another monitor that has a HDMI connector will the 2 monitors work together?

If i'm just plain out wrong can you explain to me how I can do it?

Yes, just connect both of the monitors to your GPU and they will work together.

Your card probably has two DVI ports as well as HDMI and Displayport.
You can connect a second monitor to any available port.
When you first boot Windows the two screens will be clones of each other.
Right hand click on the desktop and click "Select Resolution".
Here you can change settings to extend the desktop to the second monitor, apply this change.
You can then select which monitor you want to be the primary display and drag the second monitor to the left or right of the first, depending on where you have placed them on the desk.
