Hello tom's hardware community.

I am going to buy this Motherboard,

http://www.e-shop.gr/asus-m5a78l-m-lx3-p-PER.522983

it supports ddr3 dual channel up to 1333mhz and up to 1866mhz (O.c).

That means that if i buy 1600 mhz ram it will run at 1333mhz speeds as i know.

The question is that will i be able to set it on my own to 1600MHZ or i just have to mess with voltages and stuff? If so i'll stick with the 1333mhz which is supported.

You can get 1333 MHz RAM and OC it to 1600 or just get 1600 MHz RAM.

is it a dificult task to do, i mean i just press for example set to 1600mhz or i need to play with the voltages and speeds?

I think that you need to "play with the speeds".
Or the motherboard will reduce/increase it automatically.

ok,i'll go with the 1600mhz then and see what happens

If 1600 MHz is too much for the mobo(which is highly doubt it is),then I think the mobo decreases the speed automatically. :)

Simple answer yes it can run 1600 - IF you have a CPU that can carry 1600, which is the big question, whether you can run a particular freq of DRAM is more tied to the MC (memory controller) which is in the CPU than anything else - yes mobo plays in, but can get a mobo that runs 2400 which does you no good if your CPU can only carry 1600 (unless of course you don't mind throwing away money on 2400 sticks to run them at 1600

It's better to buy them in pairs so you'll know they will work together for sure.

i am saying to add 4 gigs in the near future for upgrade.since my budged is limited and i am asking if it is going to work 100% in dual channel if i get exactly the same RAM.In this case.i am buying corsair vengence or the g skill 1333mhz.

No guarantees, they might play, they might not....that's why manufacturers offer such a wide variety, all the sticks in a package have been tested to work together so the package is guaranteed
