First, wait for more info about the new GTX970 and GTX980 performance and pricing which is coming very soon.

The NVIDIA cards have Shadowplay or OBS via the hardware encoder to efficiently record or stream video (NVENC hardware encoder does real-time encoding of graphics card output with about 5% FPS loss).

The R9-290 is arguably a better value but there's been a lot of heating/quality issues if you look at customer feedback. I ended up looking at one or two of the more expensive cards only due to issues with cheaper models but by then I was back to recommending the EVGA GTX780 967MHz (base freq) due to its excellent quality.

Again, the GTX970/980 is probably the way to go.

*PERFORMANCE?
The estimates make no sense. First they said the GTX980 would be slightly better than a GTX780Ti, but then they said slightly less.

However, they also say the GTX980 has 4x the CUDA CORES and ROP of the GTX750Ti which in my head says almost 4X the performance. Since the GTX750Ti is the only Maxwell card we have to use it. Well, let's look at a GTX750Ti:
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/GTX_750_Ti_OC/2...

If it was only 2.5x better than a GTX750Ti then it would be the same as a GTX780Ti so what the heck?

Assuming about 65Watts for this GTX750Ti, and knowing the GTX980 uses roughly 200 Watts (2x6-pin) we've got about 3x the power usage which isn't 4x but then there's only double the amount of VRAM so the GPU itself would have more than 3x the power available so the numbers seem to be lining up (i.e. perhaps 3.5X the power to the GPU compared to the GTX750Ti).

Something's wrong though since my estimates put the GTX980 performance FAR ABOVE any other estimates. Unless the new Maxwell design has changed how the Cuda Cores work however I'm not sure how to not estimate based on that 4X difference.

If they are more expensive I wont be able to buy. 780 is at the top of the budget.

GTX780 is $500 USD+.

GTX970 is probably going to give similar performance for less money. $350+ ??

Regardless, it's just best to WAIT since we should have actual data this month.

Even if you don't get a 9 series it should reduce the price of the 7 series
