I was asked to help setup an old PC (approx. 14 years old) for a family member but we couldn't connect a monitor as I couldn't identify the video port.

We have the original monitor for the PC which only has a VGA connection. However when I went to connect the monitor I couldn't find a VGA port on the PC? I presume it must of had some sort of adaptor from VGA to whatever display port the PC has but I cannot identify which is the display port on the PC. I'm not familiar with anything older than VGA so I wondered if anyone can help identify the display port from the picture below.

On the motherboard in-between the yellow connector and the connection circled is printed the letters VGA. Initially I thought the yellow connection was some older variation of VGA but from research there doesn't seem to be such a thing? Which leads me to my other train of thought that the connection circled is a damaged female VGA port? As though the plastic/metal surround has been ripped off? However I can only count 14 pins (unless one is missing/damaged).

Yup, the one in the red circle is a damaged VGA port.

Easiest fix would probably be an old second hand GPU.

It does look like a ripped out VGA port with the middle top pin missing. If you're feeling adventurous, it should be possible to solder in a replacement one.

Thanks for the speedy response guys. I don't personally think it's worth resurrecting this old thing but perhaps I might have a an old graphics card lying about somewhere to try. It has some old industry specific software on it that my brother-in-law wanted but I'm sure there must be some more modern solutions available!

Thanks again!
