Hi, I just got a new GTX 780 TI (since my last one was on the verge of death). And, to my surprise, while playing Batman Arkham City I discovered some artifacts in the shape of small squares at the right side of my screen. Is there a way to fix it? Could it be the PSU? Thanks.

PSU: 650W Seasonic 80+ Gold

CPU: I7-4790K

Motherboard: Asus Maximus VII

GPU: Gigabyte GTX 780TI Windforce edition.

Is it a bunch of small squares within a bigger square? That's a common sign of corrupted VRAM. You should contact Newegg or whoever you purchased it from and request a replacement. Don't bother with Gigabyte's customer service. It'll take a month for your card to come back guaranteed.

Just to clarify does it look anything like this?

If it does look like this then it is for sure corrupted VRAM.

Thanks for your comment. They don't look like that, I tried to take a picture of them, but couldn't. They are black squares that sort of randomly scatter around the right side of the screen for a split second. This one is very close, but mine is less severe.

How often does it occur? Did you check your monitor cables and have tried reseating your GPU and inserting it firmly?

Never checked my monitor cables, I did reinstall the PCI express connectors and made sure that the GPU was sitting firmly. They also don't happen right away. If you are familiar with 3DMark, on the Fire Strike test I don't get any artifacts but in the Sky Diver test, which is supposed to be less advance it artifacts pretty good. They don't occur that often, though.

Hmm have you checked your temps while benchmarking? If it's overheating then try to fasten the GPU cooler tighter as it may be loose.

Temps are good, I'm afraid. Never broke 70 c.

Sounds like a bad card then sadly. I would contact the store/site you bought it from and ask for a replacement if that's the case.

Like I said before just don't even bother with Gigabyte customer service. I've returned 2 motherboards to them and both took over a month to come back. In fact a friend of mine is still waiting for hers to come back. I've just lost all hope for their quality control and assurance sadly.

I'm sorry there isn't much to be done but if you notice anything else before you send it out don't hesitate to give a hollar or ask any other questions.

I swear I just used my warranty because my last one was dying. Is there no way that the problem is with the PSU?

What is your exact PSU model? It's very rare for Seasonic to make DOA components as they are widely regarded as the masters of quality with PSUs. It sounds like you have the SSR-650RM which is the 650W version of my PSU. The Seasonic G series is an exceptional lineup of units. Look for your unit on the PSU tier list if you're curious about your unit.
