I have just upgraded from windows 8 to windows 8.1, and no matter what game I play , my system's CPU usage goes up to 80-90% , which causes the games to lag a lot.

Edit: System Specs:
Processor: AMD A-10 5750M APU 2.50 GHz
Video Card: 512 MB AMD Radeon HD 8650G (Integrated) and 2 GB ATI Sunpro HD 8570 Graphics (Dedicated)
Ram : 4GB DDR3

stating your system specs would help a lot more, depending on the cpu you got that is normal to have it at load, after all you are using it and that is not the cause of lag, the cause of lag is most likely your system is to week for the games and settings at which you want to play them

I think the problem comes from the design of the apu. It needs to use cpu resources to run the integrated graphics.
Has this difference just started with the 8.0 to 8.1 transition?
I would hope that 8.1 improved vs. regressed.

Can you try just using the dedicated card and turning off the integrated graphics?

After I upgraded to 8.1 , all my settings were saved , but my drivers were outdated somehow , I had to update them , and that solved the problem.
