Hi guys. First of all, I want to say that I know this has been asked thousands of times, but none of the other threads have solutions that work for me. In games like Minecraft and team fortress 2, I get low FPS. I am using a 750 Ti and an FX 6300 overclocked to 4.3GHz, rock solid. Here is my pc build:

http://pcpartpicker.com/b/d8r7YJ

I have tried these things:

  • *Choosing "Prefer maximum performance" in Nvidia settings.
*Disabling and Enabling TurboCore in BIOS
    *Allocating more RAM
*Running a stress test before playing
*Overclocking GPU (I'm too scared to tweak voltage settings right now, maybe someone can guide me through that here)

In Minecraft, I only get 15% GPU usage MAX. Even at 15% I still only get ~50 FPS. Lowering settings a lot increases fps a lot, but that's not really a fix. Also, overclocking the GPU in msi afterburner only increases performance in all games and benchmarks by a few FPS. This is where it gets weird:

In Heaven 4, Gpu usage stays around 80%, and I get like 85 fps. (This is the basic preset) Same thing in FurMark. Since both of these benchmarks are way more intensive than minecraft, I would think I would get far greater FPS in minecraft.

Tl;dr: Minecraft gets horrible FPS and uses little GPU. FurMark and Heaven 4 use almost full GPU usage and get great FPS. None of the solutions on other threads with similar issues fix this.

Has anyone had a similar issue in which RMAing solved the problem? What should I do?

sorry for late respond dude ..
OK, the GPU and CPU are fine and u don't have to OC your CPU to get the card full power but it's OK .
what Driver R U Using now ?
have U installed latest driver ?
if yes, install older driver and try again but do not try beta version stay with WHQL and keep me up with results.

I tried rolling back the drivers. I rolled back to the previous recommended version and the previous beta version. Neither improve anything. I don't have battlefield or crysis 3. Is there a free game like that I can test with?

By the way, thanks for your help. Do you think this could be an optimization issue? Maybe Nvidia doesn't know what to do with Java? (Minecraft is a java game btw) Going to try TF2 again in a minute.

I am returning my video card in for a replacement. I've been having some problems with black screens and this morning it happened a number of times. Looks like my PC is out for the rest of the week...

Going through the same thing again now that I have changed to an Sapphire R9 270. This time I did notice that the GPU usage spikes to around 90% for a second and then goes back down to around 20. I don't know what to do.

In this video a guy uses the same setup and plays a modified version of minecraft: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHjSlEtnRHE
The mod makes the game have shadows and moving foilage, which takes up a ton more GPU power, and somehow he still gets great FPS.

In Minecraft I get about 50 FPS at max settings, while my cheap laptop graphics card gets 200. Here are the tf2 frames you asked for as well:

On all settings at High, and texture detail set to Very High, I get 180FPS almost constantly. GPU usage goes to 40 max. Very confusing results.

Minecraft uses 30% max and gets 50 fps, a much simpler game than TF2. TF2 gets 200 FPS on near max settings. I have no clue what to do.
