I wan't to buy smthing like NVIDIA gtx 760 which cost 330$, or AMD r9 280 which cost 305$

AMD and nvidia both have their positives and minuses. If we are comparing two, we can look at the GTX770 vs the R9 280X as an example. It will depend on how the games were programmed. Some games will perform better with a 770, some will perform better with a 280X.

But for the price, right now AMD is a better deal (in general). The 280X is on average noticeably cheaper than the 770.

That said, there are new releases coming out this month, and it's hard to predict if AMD will have the advantage in price after the release.

Nvidia's drivers are better and have better AA support.

Mmm Nvidia is more reliable, and can be overclocked better. I have a 760 and love it. I've build with many different AMD cards though and they are good, but consume more power and the technology isn't as good.

You will get fair value from either amd or nvidia at most price points.

I have a method to pick between equally performing products.
Go to newegg and find the candidates.
Filter on the most reviews by verified buyers.
Then look at what percent of the reviews have one or two eggs indicating some sort of a problem.
In particular, look at the reasons for a bad review. Some are not very valid, so exclude those.

buying Nvidia usually means you get better driver/software compared to AMD. Also in my experience, AMD cards tend to run a bit hotter and noisier than Nvidia with reference fan designs.

The cards you mentioned are in the same basic performance envelope, with the 280 being a little faster overall

I use the 7950 and with the latest drivers I haven't had any problems. Nvidia does have physx and shadowplay... I didn't need any of those features so I just went with the 7950 instead of the 760. Yes they do run a bit hotter, but the cards are designed to handle the heat and you shouldn't have any problems.

Anyways I'm thinking of selling/trading my 7950 later on for a 760 or whatever new card is available next year. Not really because of the gaming performance, but because the 760 is great for CAD programs.
