Hey guys,

I can't get my PC to boot up when I enable X.M.P at 1866 speeds. Any ideas. Boots up fine when Optimized Default settings are loaded.

AMD FX 8350
4x4GB Corsair Vengeance CMZ8GX3M2A1866C9

That's because AMD's memory controller will only work at 1866 when using 2 RAM modules and 1600 with 4.

Might need to add a little voltage to the MC and DRAM try raising DRAM voltage + 0.05 and set the CPU/NB voltage to 1.2

That's because you're running it at default. Manually change it to 1600.

sorry I meant to say it will only run at 1333, anything else is unstable, won't boot.

Are you choosing 1600 as the memory speed or are you choosing 1333 and increasing it to 1600?

Try CPU/NB to 1.3 wih the same DRAM voltage we tried earlier - have seen people have to go to 1.4 for 4 sticks of 1866....if no joy try at 1600 (manually change the freq, or look for DOCP, EOCP or XMP and enable whichever of those it has and select 1866 or 1600 (those are the three primary approaches AMD uses for OC profiles for DRAM)

ok I tried 1.3 to 1.4 on 1866 with XMP enabled, no dice
tried 1.3 to 1.4 on 1600 with XMP disabled, no dice.

I'm at a loss as to why I can't at least run at 1600

Try using the XMP - it shows as disabled above - enable and select 1600

yeah it's disabled now because that's the only way I can boot up lol

any messing around with the voltage? or just straight enable XMP and manually set to 1600?

I only have 1 stock Profile, Profile 1 in XMP and that just sets it to 1866

I can't believe how difficult this is to get ram to run as it's advertised speed
