So I bought all the parts for my first build yesterday including the new i7 5820k and Asus x99 Deluxe motherboard.
Me, being a noob I decided to go out and buy the newest stuff without much thought put into it.

Now my uncle tells me I'd be better off selling my 5820k and x99, saving a bit of money and instead getting the 4790k and Sabertooth z87 which he owns and swears by.
A guy from work also suggested the i7-4820k?
What do you guys think?

Here is all the parts I bought other than the processor and motherboard - http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/Calum1995/saved/Z3jBD3

I have no intention of overclocking as I have no idea how to.
I will be mainly gaming, dabbling in Photoshop and doing general day to day stuff.

Any replies would be much appreciated.

You probably would lose money on selling so why not stick with it.When asked before buying would you have gotten haswell as answer to go with, but now when you have this would i keep it or you should be able to get all or most money back.

So at least before selling look at what you can get back.If the price difference becomes negligible leave it as it is.
For general gaming etc a i7 4790k would be better, well noy better but more money efficient as it will do what a 5820k ddoes in gaming for a lower price, x99 boards do have extra pcie slots so if you want to sli or crossfire stixk with it, but a z97 sabertooth would be better than a z87 sabertooth

1) Unless you are looking to get a i7-5960X or i7-5930K at a later time, then don't go for the i7-5820K. I consider this CPU a slight flop since it's only like a i7-4790K with higher PCI bandwith, and X99 support.
2) Your uncle's solution has a huge problem: Spending too much on motherboard. But it is better than a i7-5820K, cause it's cheaper.
3) I probably won't go with X79 since X99 is here to stay for some 2 generations of Tick/Tock-E CPUs.

I would not change if you have already bought into X99. It is excellent value if you are there day one,th point is to be there early. Most people will tell you different but it is the only chipset you can look forward to a CPU upgrade on. Furthermore, you get more cores, and intel are really stingy with those and overall the chipset ages very well compared to Z series. Yes,it is not value for money in a bucks for power metric, but value is elsewhere.
