2 processors, 1 choice.

Solution
for your setup, if your not going to upgrade the graphics card anytime soon... going with a 5800k and a modest overclock would give you a very noticeable increase in speed, and be a good match for your gtx660.

its basically the same as your a8 processor you have, but the a8 is stuck at 2.9ghz while the 5800k is at 3.8ghz out the box and with the 212 evo cooler you can comfortably overclock it to 4.3-4.4ghz, which would scale almost perfectly as far as performance, about 50% faster.

What do you mean by a discrete graphics card? I have a GTX 660.

My current build is this http://pcpartpicker.com/b/6YkLrH

I was thinking about just buying a new mobo/ CPU/APU and just put it in my current case until I get the rest of my 2nd build, then i'll put my mobo/apu I have now back in and put it in the new case i'm getting once I get those parts.

if your going to be building a whole new system though, just go with an intel i5, the amd fx 8000 are a dying breed with no upgrade path.

So getting the A10-7850k wouldn't be good for a brand new build? I'm most likely sticking with AMD.

This ^^ if you dont plan to change your motherboard also a 5800k would be the better option for you, if you plan to change it anyways go intel, a locked i5 and a cheap motherboard are cheaper than an fx 8320 and a nice motherboard for overclocking (because at stock speed is outperformed by most i5 cpus).

Sorry for my complete stupidity, are you guys saying instead of getting a new mobo/processor, I should just get a 5800k and put it in my current mobo?

Dont be too hard on yourself, we are here to help. If youhave the budget get another motherboard and cpu then go for it, if not, your best option would be what nikoli said, going for the 5800k and a nice cooler.

I was thinking about getting a ASUS A88x-pro mobo and the a10-7850k. Would that be bad? It's only like $300.

The nice thing about the 7850k are the integrated graphics, and since you already have a gtx 660 then you'll not need the integrated graphics. Take a look at this:

The amd setup can be overclocked, the intel not. But i'd go with the intel one.

With the AMD setup, would it be worth it to pay more to get the 8350?

the 8350 is just clocked higher out the box compared to the 8320. if you put the same coolers on them, like a 212 evo, they will both top out at the same overclock. though if your trying to reach for 5.0ghz, the 8350 may have a slight advantage since it is binned slighly higher.

the 5800k and the 7850k are so close in performance that the price difference of around $60 is just not worth it.

otherwise, like i said, the amd am3 platform is old an dying. if you need a cheap cpu for highly threaded non gaming tasks like encoding, the amd fx 8 core is definitely a good buy on a steep budget. for gaming, just get an intel i5.

at this point though, i would say waiting for skylake or amd's successor to the fx line if your tyring to get powerful cpu option. you can just drop in a 5800k now and ride out your gtx660 for the next 18-24 months and then do an entirely new build then when we will have all the new goodies. ddr4 will be the norm... 500gb/1tb ssd's will be cheap, amd/intel tock generation cpus, and near 4k capable single gpus.
