Recently my friend dropped his iPod in some water, and since then it has only been able to turn it on once. He left it in the airing cupboard for a few days in attempt to dry it off, and when that didn't work it was sent off to a professional to be repaired. Unfortunately, it cannot be fixed. However, I was wondering if there was anyway to get to the memory card and either see if that was still okay or if the data could be retrieved from it.
It is a 4th generation iPod purchased in 2012.
Any help would be appreciated.

As far as I'm aware, iPods don't have a slot for an add-on memory card, all the storage capacity is built-in and the only way to access that is when the iPod is in full working order.

What kind of iPod is it? iPod (model) 4th generation. I'm guessing iPod touch 4th generation?

Did you try putting in a bag of rice for a day?

No memory card in an iPod that can be accessed by a user.
