I was wondering what the best AMD R9 290 card is.

Which has the best performance/price ratio?

which one has the best performance?

Which one has the best temperature?

Which one has the lowest cost?

Which one has the highest overclock?

The R9 290 as a GPU has the best price/performance ratio,the manufacturer doesn't matter.

Differences between the performance of each R9 290 are non-existant to very very tiny.

Depends on the cooler. Sapphire>Gigabyte>ASUS>MSI>XFX>HIS IMO,but the differences are very small, maybe 1-3C max.

The cheapest is the Powercolor Radeon R9 290(on PCPartpicker),Gigabyte R9 290 Windforce(on newegg.com)

They all have the same core clock of 947 MHz,memory clock of 5000 MHz,4GB of VRAM...so I'm guessing that they all have the same overclock, which I think is 1007 MHz.I might be wrong about that, but I can't find that anywhere.
You can also get the OC versions of some R9 290s,which have the core clock of 1040 MHz.

IMO,Sapphire R9 290 Tri-X and Gigabyte R9 290 Windforce are the best R9 290s.

Hope this helps. :)

the sapphire trix and msi gaming are the two best overall. the asus and gigabyte have upwards of 5c higher vrm temps, but are still good. i believe the gigabyte is priced the most aggressive currently. overall, none of them overclock very well at all, like 100mhz over stock and then they are right back to 90c thermals. but i think the 290s are best just ran with out the box settings, at which point your still getting very good price/performance ratio for the high end boards.

if you want to overclock, get a gtx780. acx, twin frozr, windforce, dc2..... they will all easily go to 1200mhz and have the same temps/fan noise as an out the box sapphire tri-x 290 at those speeds, and be a little bit faster to boot.

on top of this, right now is not a good time to buy any gpu. wait for nvidia to show its cards regarding the gm204 cards and let the market do its thing to all the other cards prices which will no doubt be lower than they are currently.
