Will my Superflower 500w fanless 80+ platinum that is able to "overclock" (im guessing "over work") to 600w and be an 80+ gold power my 780 Ti ROG Matrix ok ?

I also have a Sabertooth x79, 3930k, 16gb 1866mhz memory, 2x SSD's & 1 SSHD.

Thanks

NO, don't even think about it.

I would not do that.

That's asking too much from that PSU, even if it does work the lifetime of the PSU will be reduced considerably. Save yourself some headaches and get a bigger one now.

Jonny Guru gives that PSU a "recommended" result, but it is a bit too light for what you have in mind. It doesn't even have 2 x PCIe x16 power cables, does it?

I'm guessing your all right.. It comes with cables that I believe should power 2 lower powered cards but at the moment for the past 9 months it has been powering my 6gb 7970 Vapor-X but I assume that is an easier card to power :/

Yikes! You were actually running the HD 7970 on that PSU? Amazing! Must be a darn good 500W PSU. I didn't read the Jonny Guru article, but it sounds like a well made PSU. I still would not go with it and the GTX 780 Ti... having said that, if it can handle the 392W HD 7970, it should be able to handle the 372W GTX 780 Ti.

Yeh see this is the problem ^^ the psu is really really good and has managed to even stay very cool whilst my 7970 has been pushed to the limit gaming at max on pretty much everything in the past year ! So because of this I'm kind of wanting to test it but was under the impression the Ti would need much more power.. I think it's just me being lazy having to sell the psu and replace it that has made me question when really a new psu would be more future proof :/  still very undecided lol..

Well, it obviously will run on the PSU if the HD 7970 did. So if you want to keep on taking a chance, go for it. On the negative side, it is possible that the HD 7970 was not running at its full potential if the PSU couldn't keep the +12V up to needed spec. Too low of voltage and it would shut down or restart. But just a bit low on the necessary voltage and the performance would simply deteriorate.

I assume you're talking about system usage? That's not for just a gpu.

I thought that was awfully high. But I got it from: http://gpuboss.com/gpus/Radeon-HD-7970-vs-GeForce-GTX-7...
This site has the HD 7970 at a more realistic 250W: http://www.hwcompare.com/11275/radeon-hd-7970/
...same as the GTX 780 Ti: http://www.hwcompare.com/16367/geforce-gtx-780-ti/

I'd stick with a good 600 or so, your CPU is higher than most also (130W) and imagine you are or will be OCing

I would not look at gpu boss, they probably get their intel from reviews too. That said does this specific hd 7970 use two 8pin connectors which theoretically would mean that it could draw up to 375,more realistically it means it can draw over 300watts when really pushed with something like furmark.

@Leo Newton,

I agree with Tradesman to not overclock with this as it is! For that get a new psu, like >~650watts.
If you don't overclock will you probably be fine for now.
Just don't use furmark as a benchtest, but something like unigine valley. Most certainly dont bench in combination with something like prime95.
