Hello everyone. I've decided to try and figure out this issue again. I've got myself a home theater PC (windows 7- 64) which connects to my Yamaha receiver which in turn connects to my epson projector. All through HDMI hookups through my AMD video card (Diamond Radeon HD 7750). In my sound playback options, I have AMD high definition audio device which normally shows my av receiver with my current 5.1 surround. If I go to the configure speaker options and see or select 5.1 then my system works fine. Anytime I turn off my receiver, my projector audio is then detected which is only 2 speakers and the AMD high definition audio device then shows my Epson projector and switches to stereo sound. If I turn back on my receiver, the AMD high definition audio switches back to my receiver but the previous settings are lost. Anything I set up including 5.1 surround or a different audio bit/hertz format are lost. I've looked this up before and I couldn't figure it out. The best I could find was a program that switches the audio back to 5.1 by pressing a key combo. I've looked this up and couldn't find anyone that had really found a solution. Any help on this would be appreciated.

Dont use the AMDs drivers for watching movies. leave it to the receiver and when your watching movies change the setting from receiver not AMD audio drivers. I also have Home Theatre 5.2 setup. I have my movies setting saved on my receiver.

I think you misunderstood what I meant. The AMD audio driver is the video card's audio output through HDMI. I have no choice but to use it unless I want to use the motherboard's audio (non hdmi). The audio driver detects and switches between my receiver and projector and when it does it loses the settings it had before. I'd like it to keep the settings for when it switches back. There isn't a more recent driver (part of the catalyst control video driver) that I could find and driver rollback just removed the driver from my system all together.

Okay let me get this straight. So when you switch to Receiver and Projector, your normal audio settings are removed from the Pc? and then when you switch back to the receiver and projector their setting are then removed. Am I right? lol sorry for the confusion.

Whenever my receiver is turned off (5.1 audio with 24bit 48,000hz), the computer switches to the projector (stereo surround, 16bit 48,000hz), When I turn the receiver back on the projector settings stay. I have to then go back to the audio playback menu and configure the 5.1 audio 24 bit settings again. It does this every time I turn off the receiver. If I leave it on, there are no problems. I just don't like to always keep it on

I think you might be right about getting a sound card. I just like having my HDMI carry audio and video both. I suppose I could always get another video card but that would be kind of expensive
