Ok,so here is my question:
I have an old PC that has an intel pentium processor with 2gb kingston ram.I do not know the model of the motherboard. It was bought in 2008.According to my knowledge,I just need to put in a new processor, motherboard and ram.So correct me if i'm wrong. Also, can anyone tell me if these parts that I have chosen will be compatible with each other:

ASUS M5A97 R2.0 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard

Intel Core i7 Processor i7-920 2.66GHz 8 MB LGA1366 CPU BX80601920

EVGA GeForce GTX760 FTW with ACX Cooler 4GB GDDR5 256Bit Dual-Link DVI-I DVI-D HDMI DP SLI Ready 04G-P4-3768-KR
by EVGA

Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory (CMZ16GX3M2A1600C10).

Price is not a problem for me,as I have saved up money. Also will I need to change my old fan?

No, those are not compatible. The motherboard is AMD, the processor is Intel. Also, if money isn't a problem I'd recommend building a system using the latest chipset (Z97). What will this system be used for? What is your budget?

If it's just for gaming, then you don't necessarily need an i7, or 16Gb ram. If you have the budget for it, it can't hurt to be future proof, but for today's games it's not necessary.

Also the GPU is a little week if you are building for today's latest titles like BF4 for example. It's the minimum I'd want. It'll run it fine, but you'll be dipping below 40fps here and there. I'd want a minimum R9 280X / GTX770. Again, give us your budget, tell us what you're using the system for and we'll put something together for you.

It may be cheaper for you to just buy a new pc.
It sounds like you have an old pre-built (HP, Compaq, Dell, Gateway...) and that copy of windows is likely to not work on a modern motherbd and definitely will not transfer over to another motherbd; meaning you have to buy another copy of windows too.

The Old case may or may not take the new motherbd; pre-builts sometimes use proprietary mounting which standard motherbds wont mate properly to.

Yes,I did notice that these parts are not compatible,.My budget is about 700$.Actually,I do want to make the pc somewhat futureproof. Also, I did find some new parts, please tell me if they are compatible.I have listed them below:

ASUS Z97-A ATX DDR3 2600 LGA 1150 Motherboards Z97-A by Asus

Intel Core i7-4790K Processor (8M Cache, up to 4.40 GHz) (BX80646I74790K)

EVGA GeForce GTX 770 Superclocked with ACX Cooler 4 GB GDDR5 256-Bit Dual-Link DVI-I/DVI-D HDMI DP SLI Ready Graphics

Also,could you suggest a cheap,yet efficient motherboard,prefrably Asus.

Yes those parts will work together.

You're still looking at about $100 for a decent board.
