My question is I have no idea where to plug-in the case fan connectors. Absolutely no mention of these in the CM 690 III manual. Nor my Asus z97-a boad :

Hope somebody can help. I look forward with baited breath for your replies :)

Many thanks
John

More about : build sprogress halted case fans psu mobo

Case fans can plug either into the 4-pin or 3-pin fan headers on the motherboard or plug directly into the PSU via a larger 4-pin plug. Fans plugged into the motherboard can have their speeds regulated manually or via the current temperatures. Fans plugged into the PSU always run at 100% speed. You can check your case specifications on any website to figure out what fans are preinstalled and what additional fans you can buy.

This is what a fan cable looks like: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Usually fan plugs will be identified in the motherboard manual. See page 1-2 in the motherboard manual. Paragraph 1.2.4 shows them as item 3

Hello Turkey!! Thank you for your reply, and may I apologise I have a very dodgy keyboard :?

I cant see any mention of these 'headers'? I couldnt open the newegg link either I tried lot of times, sorry :(

I suspect the fans are molex? Strange as they have both fmale and male adapters on the end offan wire. And I thought I might finish the build this eve ! Booo :(

From your advice I think I would absolutely want them plugging into the mobo!! Cant see any relevant connections unless i take off te large 4 pin (molex?) connections and go with the smaller 2 pin connectors?

Thank hyou so much!

Looking at THIS picture, it seems like the molex plugs are an extension. You should be able to remove them and get a standard fan plug that can be used on the motherboard.

The CPU fan has a dedicated pair of plugs near the socket. Otherwise it really doesn't matter. Whatever socket they will reach.
