DELL POWEREDGE 1600 issues

Ok so i dont know much about servers. I need to get this thing setup but dont know how to. It has 2 73gb scsi drives but i dont know how to.set it up. The bios battery was removed before i got my hands on it so ibdont know whay the settings are. I have no knowledge of servers but a lot of pcs. Im getting this screen upon booting. What and where do i have to configure. As far as i know everything has been wiped on.this. probably drivers etc. Im getthing this screen.

I would expect that the server has been COMPLETELY wiped (no operating system). It looks like the host is seeing the devices, but probably doesn't have anything to boot. What O/S are you expected (planning?) on having?

Xp but when i try to install.xp it says no hard disks found exiting setup

There was also no logical configurations set up so i just hit easy configuration in the bios

I have no idea how to set anything on this machine up so id probably need a step by step guide! Why oh why are these things not like typical machines!

You will probably need some drivers for the hardware, and I wouldn't recommend XP for a server...

That looks like a REALLY old box. Here is Dell's download page. They never supported any MS software other than the server O/Ss. Windows XP might be able to use the drivers for server 2003 (see Wikipedia)

Since that is a dual socket (assuming both sockets are populated) you will need XP Pro.
If you have more than 4GB RAM, I would HIGHLY recommend Win 7 64 rather than XP Pro 64.

Have you read Dell Support ? It looks like it is on the right track.

MFG date is 2004. Ram installed is 2gb. Xeon processor. What drivers do i need to install and how do i do that without an os? Also once i get everythin set up how do i set up drives in the config utility?
