Hello guys! I'm in a little bit of a pickle at the moment.. I currently boasts a i5-2500k @ 4.8ghz stable, max temps of 70c, possible hits 71-72.. I've been able to hit 5ghz with this chip. I'm currently at a point in life where I can safely afford to upgrade some components. I'm debating between upgrading Mobo/CPU and going MSI Gaming 7 / i7-4790k, or going for a GPU upgrade of a GTX 780.. The reason I wanna upgrade my CPU more is because I currently am using a very cheap asus motherboard, ( P8Z 68-V LX ).. And I want a more stable " heart of the system ".. Anyway where do you guys think I will see most my gains?

Keep the CPU, as you have a very high frequency and it is running at fine temps. There is no need to upgrade the CPU, upgrading the GPU will be a much greater benefit to your gaming. The CPU is certainly not bottlenecking you down, so upgrading the GPU will really be the performance boost.

Yeah that's what I was thinking as well. I just thought it would be so cool to own a newer i7 xD! Do you think streaming wise with my higher clock speeds and with it being an i5, I'll be able to stream 720/60fps?

In one month Intel is releasing all the 5th Generation Broadwell processors likely I heard, so it wouldn't be new anyways in a month.

Ha ha yeah I heard that as well Turkey, xD thanks everybody.. I currently own a 700W PSU, but it's old-school it's a Xmigatek i'm not sure if you guys remember that brand or not. Also I'm running Corsair Vengeance 8gb 1600mhz, should i go higher mhz on the ram? And what are good max temps to have @ 4.8ghz?

All temps should not go over 71 degrees. 80 is the danger zone when stuff needs to be done.

So hitting max temps of 71-72 Is that fine? During game of course.

Really o.0 can you recommend a good one? I assume modular would be the way to go now.

I dont know the budget but this is really great http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... and it will power everything with upgrading the mobo and cpu and other stuff..i personally have that model but 850w bought it because it was last evga supernova that i could buy in my local shop its tier one so you have nothing to worry about. http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-1804779/power-... ( if you dont know what im talking about)

That is a nice one Jshoop, but I think I'll nab the EVGA because it'll match my GPU brand, and I'm that type of guy! haha

And yes you can get a cheaper one both will do the job now but im thinking like i dont know what future holds and the new-gen cpus and that kind of stuff want more wattage and stuff so i went with more wattage for a great price...but its really your thing:)

I have several friends telling me not to even upgrade ANYTHING! And spend money on gear, like Mouse/mousepad and headset lol, but I feel like my 7950 is dated!

Yeah, and if you buy a 290x, you get free games unlike the nvidia which puts you in a drawing for a raffle. o.0
