So my original plan was to get a R9 270 but the R9 265 is basically the same and cheaper but I was just wondering if I get a card that runs the same but cheaper or something what runs better for the same price (£140 - £150). Yes I could just go on PCPartpicker but I don't know alot about nvidia cards because I am a bit of an AMD fan boy so yeah.

Ill probably just go with the R7 265 tbh.

Also i posted this over on the LTT forums so if you want to check it out,http://

More about : 265 270 geforce

The R9 270 Especially the MSI version gives you 270X performance at a click of a button , after overclocking it which is very simple you get a 270x performance.

Generally the R9 270 is the best card in this price point as it can be overclocked easily to reach 270x performance.

yeah thats why I am not going to get the 270X
I was also thinking about the GTX 750 Ti but not too shure how it performs compaired to a R7 265 or R9 270
sorry for the late reply

You're not that far off from a R9 280 which is another choice:

CCL:

Dabs:

http://www.dabs.com/products/xfx-amd-radeon-r9-280-827m...

The price is decent enough. The R9 280 can run ultra settings at 1080p a bit better than the R9 270/ 270X. Overclocking it will yield more performance.
In my opinion, if you have around £150, i would suggest the R9 280. If you had £130, then the R9 270.

What is your whole budget? What do you need to buy?
It is easier to know this in order to get the best performance for your budget.

Before getting Windows 8 retail price, ask around your school IT department if they can give you a license if you know someone in that department.
If not, you can get the Window 8.1 Student from Microsoft, as long your school is on their list.

I live in London.

If you could get a reduced price of Windows, you get to spend more elsewhere.

If you really want that K30 then, you could get it if you really want to since it is your/parents' purchase.

So if your budget really can't make it past £150 for your gpu, then either R9 270 or R9 270X will be fine. It down to your choice if you want a cheaper card and you overclock it yourself or get a R9 270X which is a higher binned R9 270 essentially. Both are overclockable.
If possible consider the XFX R9 280, the price is decent. Last year for £150 you would only get a R9 270.

The MSI R9 270 is pretty decent enough. It quiet for me at idle. The card performs as expected and I running it at 1120Mhz and 1400Mhz with the 14.7RC3 beta driver.
Temps are good. Idle 26C and max 65C. I could have overclocked it further but with the fps I get I already happy with that.
