Firs PC build, Asusz97-a How on ear th do I install mobo through i/o shield?

Hi everyone!

Some, if not a signifant number of people wll be aware I am building first gaming PC. I have had the mobo ready to go inthe case ( cooler master CM 690 III) for hours but cannot for the life of me get the rear i/o ports into the i/o shield :(

I assume the shield goes on first and then the mobo?

The shield goes on the case first.
Then you just place the mobo into it !
Its not that hard. Make sure the metal pieces that are lifted from the io shield are pressed so the mobo fits correctly.

Hello Masterdam17!

Thank you so much for your swift reply!! Yes I have installed the shield and bent all of the 'prongs' at approx 90 degrees as specified by one of the tutorials on this site. However I am finding it incredibly difficult with only two hands to place the mobo so the interfaces go through the shield. So sorry I am so crap at this it is very frustating :( 

I presume I am supposed to bend the prongs, as I have, inwards toward the case as opposed to outwards? :/

I'm pretty sure you bend the prongs inwards.

Hi, very funny :) 

Nope not done it yet gave up last night as was starting to lose paience. I plan on finishing te build today though, if I can 'work out' th wiring :/

I think Asus has put a faulty i/o shield in the box as even now though I have it in place and of coure there is only one way itcan be mounted the mobos display port is partly obstructed by the shield. I am not referring to the metal tabs bt the plate itsef. Grrrr :(

Can you take pictures of the shield and the mobo please.. i cant believe you tried this for two days without results..
