When will the GTX 770's price be lowered?

Nvidia has said the price of the GTX 770 will go down to $275 to rival AMD's R9 285x. When will this price drop happen? I am planning on building my computer at the end of september so will it happen before then? Thanks

You don't understand. The new R9 285x's are coming out soon so Nvidia officially said the gtx 770, 780, and 780ti's prices will be reduced. I am interested in the gtx 770 and was wondering when the price drop would happen. I know it is happening, just don't know when.

Whatever wholesale price nvidia sets, retailers are free to charge whatever the market will bear.
Until there is a good competitor, like the R9-285 cards, there is little incentive to charge less.
It a R9-285X shows up at a good price, retailers will be forced to adjust their prices too.
If the GTX8xx shows up at a good price performance point, you may well see retailers discounting GTX770 cards to clear out inventory.

What to do??

Be patient, and keep your eyes open for a good deal on a card you are looking for.
The market is not perfect, and sometimes retailers get over anxious and offer a good bargain.
