I had a bad psu before and replaced it to another seasonic 650W Gold PSU. Sometimes I would shut the computer off without completely closing a youtube window or some other programs like word. The next time I would power it on, I can hear it run but nothing goes on the display. I am 100% sure that it has shut down properly. My pc runs smoothly before this happened and after i used the solution below.

The only solution I found was flipping the PSU switch at the back, waiting 30s , then turning it on again and it works fine. Sometimes it would give me this screen, load into motherboard setup, and then run smoothly.

Is this due to the PSU or the Asus antisurge on my asus h87n mobo?

So it seems that your new PSU is causing problems OR the old PSU caused a faulty detection of bad PSUs on the MB.

We have no way of knowing without actually replacing 1 or the other and testing it. Are you still able to RMA the PSU or MB?

the new PSU has worked fine for like 4-5 months and only recently starting that... so it's psu related?

No, we have no way of knowing if the fault is with the PSU or the MB.

You'll need to test both. Replacing the PSU is the easier one to test as that's not a complete system teardown to replace the component.

I tried opening the case and seeing what happens when it doesn't turn on properly. When it doesn't I see a red LED beside the psu cable on the mobo. According to the manual it says the DRAM LED flashes and is an indicator if an error is found during booting process.... I think I can rma considering this was built january

Ran memorytest.org on friend recommendation, no errors

I guess I should include my setup to see if my PSU was sufficient.

I unplugged the psu connection on mobo and noticed a pin was missing? Is that an issue? I can't tell if the mobo slot has the pin or not... 5th pin from left on top or bot

Apparently it's normal on all modern PSU, still not sure.... I'm beginning to think it's the motherboard...
