Ive got z97 extreme4 and at the moment im using the onboard sound. Ive got 2.0 speakers and the sound is good but i feel those speakers have got so nuch to offer. Would sound card make a difference? At the moment im using aimp as audio player, for movies media classic player with k-lite codec pack and power dvd for blu ray movies. Its ok when i watch a film but when i listen to music (mostly rock and metal) there is no depth in sound and the speakers kind of choke. Ive played with sound in every possible way: bass and trebles, tried all different samples, installed newest codecs for motherboard and im still missing the x factor. Can anyone help?

Onboard is actually pretty good, as good as any mid priced sound card, but you have to have to have good speakers too. Of course there are higher end cards that will blow away your onboard sound, but you gotta open your wallet if you want better

Ive got microlab 7c. Ive read really good opinions about them, even on this forum. What cards do you recommend ?
