I am doing an eyefinity setup and I need to convert dvi-d to vga. Would it work if I used a dvi-d to hdmi (http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0035B4LJM?cache=b79666b7...), then use an hdmi to vga (http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B007KFVQXI/ref=redir_mdp_...)?

That should be a straight forward conversion using an adapter like this.

Is the DVI-D on the video card or the monitor? Depending where you may need a more expensive converter.

Actually the dvi-d is on the motherboard because I am using an apu, and the vga is on the monitor.

Ya, it's dvi-d dual link. Also, is there any cheaper way of converting or is that the cheapest way?

That's the cheapest way. Your problem is having a monitor that only supports VGA.

Ok, thanks for the answer. I guess I'll just have to spend a bit more.
