I am going to be buying another 27 inch monitor in the next few weeks. There are so many times where it would be so helpful for me to have more space for my windows, games, etc.

I do not wish to play games with both monitors, ever. I simply want the second monitor as a companion for games like DayZ, and when I am multitasking.

My question is, can I run the second monitor using the integrated graphics on my 4670k, or does the second monitor have to be hooked up to my GTX 760 2GB? Since I won't be playing games on the second monitor, there is no reason for me to have it hooked up to the GPU and stealing my resources. I would assume that I can just plug the second monitor into the integrated graphics, set the resolution, and be done.

Also, in case I wasn't clear... I'm just trying to extend the desktop, not clone it.
Thanks in advance.

yes they are. I just know this is how mine is setup.

you can check in your bios and look for the primary gpu and set that to pcie and that would make your GPU powered monitor the main monitor
It doesn't really steal resources anyways.
It's much more complicated to have video outputting from both your motherboard and GPU, and won't really make much difference.

It's not as easy as just using the integrated graphics and the GPU, there are things you have to change in the BIOS, assuming the BIOS lets you.

Splendid
yep your motherboard can power the second monitor

i have 2x7950's powering a 1440p monitor and the other two 1080p monitors are powered by my motherboard using i5 2500k

it was as simple as plug and play for me
