I'm trying to get a new fan for my old Acer Aspire X3200 since the stock one sounds like a commercial jet. The fan is an Everflow F129025SU, specs here. I'm trying to get one under 30 dB but I see that the current fan has an airflow of 74.55 CFM (side note: also 90mm) probably because of the slim case. I want to get a quiet fan but I'm afraid that one that quiet might not cool well enough. Any advice?

Sorry did not notice you were short on space. Here is a review of toms for low profile CPU cooler : http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/low-profile-heat-sink-mini-itx,3639.html

Judging by what i can see, you can only choose cooler of 3.5 inches and lower. Note that you will have to change your heat-sink and that i can't guarantee that the bolt patter of your motherboard will be compatible with these cooler brackets.

Some company will produce their own motherboard with pattern different from normal ATX/mini-ATX motherboard.

Anything is achievable. what is your budget ? Also 30 DB is a bit loud. aim for under 20 DB but this will cost more. :

Noctua NH D14 http://pcpartpicker.com/part/noctua-cpu-cooler-nhd14

It is a very good cooler even if it has only 65 CFM, its noise Level is under 20 dB even at max speed. It uses 2 heatsink which makes it a very cool Cooler.

There is also his big brother NH-D15 http://pcpartpicker.com/part/noctua-cpu-cooler-nhd15

This one uses two 140 mm fans instead of one 120 and one 140mm a little louder but 82.5 CFM. Cost more too

That will NOT fit in his case.
