Computer not turning on - not the power supply?

Solution
Try clearing the cmos on your motherboard (instructions here http://www.howtogeek.com/131623/how-to-clear-your-computers-cmos-to-reset-bios-settings/)

If this doesn't help, check all the connections inside your PC.

If this doesn't help try bread-boarding it on a table out of the case with just mobo, cpu and cooler and 1 stick of ram. If it beeps or the fans spin up add the gpu and see if you can see anything on the display. To turn it on you can either short out the power on pins on the motherboard with a paperclip or just connect the cable from your case to the pins and press the on button

It's not too common, its usually caused by the motherboard freaking out over something like a power issue or similar. Just to be on the safe side I would check all the connections inside are ok. Get back in touch if it does it again as will need more investigation. Hopefully just a one-off though :)

Hi, sorry for the delay, even insomniacs sleep sometimes!

Yes checking all the leads was exactly what I meant and the SATA cable coming unplugged unexpectedly during use could have been what freaked out your motherboard.

It will help us troubleshoot the blue screen errors if you can write down the error and post the exact codes here. To give you time to write the error down you can make the PC stay on the blue screen until you press the on/off button.

To do that right click on "My Computer", then click "Properties", click on the "Advanced" tab, then click on "Startup and Recovery"

Click on the tick by "Automatically Restart" so that the tick disappears. This will make the PC wait for you to restart it if it blue screens again

These instructions are for Windows versions before 8. 8 will be slightly different so let me know if you're running 8 or 8.1

It's almost certainly your graphics card causing the errors. Please can you post your whole system specs? Here's some things to try....

1. Make sure you have the latest drivers installed (I'm guessing it's AMD?) from here http://support.amd.com/en-us/download or here if it's an NVIDIA card (but I bet it isn't) http://www.geforce.com/drivers

2. If you have the latest drivers or the new ones don't resolve the issue it's time to clear out all your GPU drivers and start from clean. Use this tool to remove your old drivers http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html then reboot and download and install the newest ones again from one of the above links.

This seems to be a common issue and some people say it's caused by the PSU but yours is a very good unit so I'd be surprised indeed if it was

There seems to be a batch of faulty R series cards with this issue. If clearing out the drivers doesn't fix it I'd suggest trying to rma the card. Definitely try clearing out all the drivers though because having catalyst and geforce drivers running together could definitely cause this problem
