Hello,
I have recently bought an HP Officejet Pro L7680 printer. I can use it properly when connecting to my laptop via USB . I want to use it via home network as well (I know that this product doesn't have a wireless option, but it has an ethernet feature, there is an "ethernet" sign on it).
But when I try to connect it to the modem (Arris dg860), I can't achieve to find a connection. There is no green light below the CAT5e cable jack. I checked different ports, then reset my modem, but nothing has changed. I checked the CAT5e cable with my laptop and saw that it works. So, I think the problem is neither with the cable nor with the modem. I think the problem may be one of these: i. Ethernet feature of the printer doesn't work anymore, ii. the cable is not compatible with this printer, iii. something that I don't know.
Actually, I was thinking about buying another kind of cable (e.g. Cat6) and try, but I'm not sure.
What would you recommend?
Thank you so much.

You didn't mention this, so I'll ask the obvious question--did you install the drivers and software for it? It seems that the drivers for USB connection and ethernet connection are different, so you may have to change it. HP has a troubleshoot page for setting this up on Windows XP, but it should apply to newer versions of Windows as well. You can find that page here.

Thanks for your response Titillating,
I accurately did what you said, installed the drivers and software for ethernet connection. I tried everything that was mentioned in troubleshoot pages and manuals. However, still it is not possible to reach the printer via ethernet. Actually, I think the problem is that printer can't get connected to router. As I mentioned, there is no light occurs below the CAT5e cable jack on the router (I think it supposed to be). What might be the reason?
