New (I say New, it's about 6 months old) build keeps resetting, making the cpu led stay on red.

Built a gaming rig for my sons birthday, and after a few teething problems it eventually worked like a dream. But the last few days it has randomly reset, multiple times, each time leaving the cpu led red, and it not load up.

The specs are:

CPU - FX 8120 @ 4GHz

Mobo - ASUS Sabertooth 990fx

RAM - 8GB corsair Vengeance 1600mhz

GPU - HIS HD 6950 Iceq x edition

2 x 500gb WD 7200RPM HDD

1 x 128GB SSD

XFX 650w PSU

Corsair H60i CPU Watercooler

Totally stumped by this, any advice, tips, ideas welcome!

Thanks guys!

Solution
if it not a heat issue try another power supply on asus mb if it not a cpu heat issue the red cpu led will turn on if the cpu power (4/8 pins) connector is not connected or the voltage is lower then atx spec.

Hi guys, using coretemp, the cpu never gets past 56 c. Yes it has been overclocked, but as I say temps don't seem to be an issue.

I'll take the psu out of my pc and try it in his to see if it helps. His is a modular psu ( not sure if that makes a difference)

Thanks guys. :)

So, I tried making sure the power cables were properly seated (the 8pin was slightly out) and it's been running and gaming fine for the last few hours with no issues.

Thank you very much both i7baby and smorizio!
