Hello all. I'm having some trouble with my ASUS GeForce GTX 780 Ti DirectCU II i just bought. I took it out of the package mounted it into my MOBO. I see that there are two 8 pin connectors on the top of it. I recieved a cord in the box that seems to connect to PCI-e from the PSU to one of them but what about the other? is there something im missing here?

you can see the cord im talking about here http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121838

Solution
you should NOT be using those adapters anyway. if your PSU doesn't supply the needed connections then it's probably not built to feed a card that powerful.

what PSU are you using?

don't use that cable that came with your graphic card. you don't need it. your PSU is actually able to handle your GPU very well and it comes with 4 PCI-E 8pin power cables. you will need to use two of this for this GPU.

The PCI-E 8pin cables that came with the PSU dont fit the gfx card..

that's not possible. are you sure you aren't plugging them in upside down?

the 6pin + 2pin side goes to the GPU. the other side, which is the 8pins already pasted together, go to the PSU. if you are having trouble plugging the 6+2pin side into your graphic card, plug in the 6pin plug first then the 2pin plug right next to it.

i never realized it was the 6pin+2pin i always thought that those where seperate :??: one last question. Do i plug two of the 6+2 pins or just one of them?

the rule is that you always need to fill all the holes on the GPU. ("giggity" in quagmire's voice). both power inputs have to be populated completely.

they use the 6+2 pin cable design because some cards need 6 pins and some need 8. some cards have a 6 pin AND an 8 pin power input. it's sort like a "one size fit all" kinda deal.
