Hello all :)

I ( much to some forum members amusement :) ) am buildng my first gaming PC. It is taking me sometime to understand the wiring and cables.

In my PSU manual it mentions that I need only connect the 4+4 pi EPS 12V cable...

"If you plan on extreme overclocking and your motherboard supports additional 8 pin or 4 pin CPU power connectors, connect the second 4+4 pin EPS12V cable. This is ONLY needed for heavy overclocking or for dual CPU motherboards"

My question is...do i need to do this? I have the following build and do plan on overclocking the CPU when I learn how to. I may also in time implement crossfire with another Radeon R9 290.

I dont really understand the ins-and-outs of what the cable/eps12v does but if there is no harm connecting it perhaps that is better than having to do it at a later date...since I am in the middle - well the beginning, of connecting the mobo and cable management. I plan on playing BF4 onlne alot, perhaps some other fps games and any upcoming decent games. Hope I havnt left ot any relevant info..

I look forward to reading your replies and advice. Many thanks indeed!

Solution
Z97-A only uses a single 8 pin 4+4 connector - the second on your PSU is for for higher end mobos that do have a second header for that power
