windows 7 activation?

hi everyone ive just moved over to intel from amd, ive done a fresh install just to be careful.im using the same windows 7 cd disc.Yet it does not recognise my product key what should I do. I do not want to buy another copy, thanks.

Where exactly does it fail?
When you're entering it, or when it actually tries to activate?

It wouldnt activate my key when it asks for it. Ive just rang them and its all done thanks.
