I'm trying to install my windows 7 ISO to a USB drive so I can install it into my laptop which doesn't have a disc tray. Each time I get anywhere it says "missing kernel drive: /NULL". What am I doing wrong?

I have a Toshiba Satellite L305-S5968. It does have a disc tray, but mine is broken. The main part I fixed before trying to re-install windows is the motherboard. It broke almost a year ago. bought a replacement, switched them and now it will actually turn on without any sort of error. It just want's a bootable OS, which I cannot seem to get to work.

Solution
Fit a new optical drive so you can create and boot from a CD instead. Having no optical drive is going to severely restrict your repair and recovery options in the future when problems arise (just ask any netbook owner).
