i7-4790k temps @4.5 GHz

Solution
I originally used Asus AI suite... But under extreme tweaker if you scroll down below you will see it.... but before i go further, i am a complete and utter novice at this and would suggest going to the ROG forums where they specifically talk about our motherboards...

I have cut and pasted the actual bit that helped me and there is the link below to take you to that thread and of course to the forum.

'When you go to Bios in the CPU voltage section you see the settings and the CPU voltage is probably set at 1.25-1.3 forgot the exact number. what i did was I set it to 1.200 at 4.4 ( come people can go lower like 1.1XX) but if you go too low cpu won't have enough power. If you put (1.2) the voltage will probably adjust to 1.21-1.29 so I...

Way too high, what cooler are you using?
Temps should be closer to high 60's low 70's.. also have you increased vcore and if so by how much? Opps just seen vcore.. still you are running way to high and i think it has to be something more than just the cooler.

Hi Hagaxe... to be honest not too sure as I went through a horrendous time trying to get the temps down on my i-7 4790K. originally at 4.4GHZ it was idling in the low 30s and maxing out in the late 80'and 90's in Prime 95. I was told to reset everything on my bios Asus Maximus Hero VII as i had lowered the voltage in vcore to 1.136 and then up a bit to 1.686 but apparently this caused the problems and my playing around in Asus suite. I then stuck vcore management in auto and everything was good again. It is definitely a setting in your bios that is causing this XMP/MCE or the like... i'm to green to tell you exactly.. But you should be getting temps like mine (below) or lower as you have the H110. Low tid 20's and at max around 63 degrees in prime95.

Take a look at the ROG forums and i am sure someone here will be able to help as well.

It decreased my 90-100c to 72C at 100% load while using hyper 212 evo cooler'

Yeah... happy to hear that Hagax... Seem to be a fair few people with 4790K's that are running hot when they should be running in the mid to high 60 degrees at maximum stress in Prime95... not sure exactly why but i am happy i got mine down to the 60's after a bit of hair pulling....
