Hi,

Firstly, can you please excuse my bad english ? Iam pretty desperate and would appreciate any help with this particular problem.

I've just recently bought this notebook with nvidia NVS 5100M graphics card in it, and i was thinking that i could upgrade it to 540M GT with no problems at all.

Everything was smooth, except i can't install NVIDIA drivers and GPU-Z is somehow missing some infromation from card. Otherwise, everything just works fine, no problems during startup, no beeping or crash reports whatsoever.

i was trying to find some solution, because i think it is nothing serious, but Iam unable to find VBIOS of this card anywhere, and Iam a bit nervous since that upgrade wasn't exactly cheap, and i maybe acted in a rush.

Please, i would appreciate any help

Firstly, you write English very well.

Did you completely uninstall your previous Graphics Card's drivers before installing your new Card's drivers? You may want to uninstall all Graphics Card drivers on your laptop and attempt to install the latest (non-Beta) drivers from the manufacturer's website (Nvidia) after a reboot.

You can confirm which drivers are presently installed via Device Manager > Display Adapters. You can also uninstall present drivers by right-clicking on the card, selecting Properties > Drivers Tab > clicking Uninstall.

Thanks, and yes i tried, i double-checked for any leftovers from Nvidia drivers ( for physx etc ).
There are default drivers installed ( i guess it's them which came with win7 ), i tried to remove them also, but after restart it will come back to these defaults again.

Installation of nvidia drivers, somehow won't continue, because right after "proper components detection" installation cancels ( which kinda makes sense, since even GPUZ can't find out what VGA card this is )

Also, i think VBIOS is ok, and PC reads it accurately, since GPU got most of parameters right ( it's slightly underclocked, but chip fits, also memory type and some other stuff ) except it is unable to read amount of memory on card ( it's 2gb, while other 540m gt card's got 1 gb ).

Maybe it really is matter of proper drivers installation.
But iam unable to grasp any solution in there since installation won't continue ( i will try definitely your advice about the non-beta drivers - altough those i tried were whql imho, ill try different sets )

Also is there any way to find out if this can't be hardware issue or incompatibility ?

Thanks in advance
