Hi all, I'm usually a guy that watches reviews, feedback etc however with headphones I can't seem to get anywhere as every model has good and bad reviews(i know most of them come down to personal taste)

The only headsets I've owned have been a old Ozone 2.1 headset and the Ozone Rage 7hx which are both pretty low end headsets.

What I'm looking for in my headset is mainly this:

- A headset mainly for gaming though i do listen to music and watch movies often
- A strong enough Bass, my games and music tend to be Bass heavy, it doesn't have to blow my ears out, but if a product has a known lack off Bass I'll probably not be into it
- Noise canceling as i will use my mic often on teamspeak/ventrillo i don't want people to get annoyed by the possible background noises(especially the fans) though if it's a headphone i could just get a microphone apart(though i don't really know about good gaming mics either)
- Preferably a 7.1 headset/headphones
- Price range around 100€, i could go to 120€ but it would have to be worth it in comparison.

Up till now the only thing i can see is the Corsair vengeance 1500 V2 as it's known for a good bass and a good compatibility with most games using 7.1

I have looked up steelseries 9H but 2 known issues were lack of bass and a bad external soundcard(which would cost more money to replace)

Another issue is, if i should get a headphone or a headset, I just want quality sound according to my preferences above, however i heard mixed things about headset vs headphones all of the time.....

So sorry for all the different questions in this wall of text

Note: I tried the Logitech G35, but between low sound and it crushing my head i had to return it which is odd considering I use Logitech all the of time and am satisfied with their products

I even wonder if i should look for a 7.1 system or not.....

First things first - do not buy a headset. Fin. The quality of most headsets is outright bad /if not terrible/.
Well, if I really had to buy a headset I'd go for Sennheiser PC360 /or, if I could get my hands on used Alienware Ozma 5 or Ozma 7/.

Second - most 5.1 and 7.1 surround headphones are virtual only. They only use two channels and use a dedicated audio chip to cheat your brain it listens to surround. Some do it better than other, but it all depends on a soundcard.

Third - what sound card do you have? If on-board integrated - go to your nearest store, buy any cheap headset for around $20-30 and be happy. You won't notice much difference compared even to $1000+ cans.

Now...
headphones>
Creative Aurvana Live! - or their successor Live 2 - good neutral...
Sony MDR-XB - series, bor extra bass...
Grado SR80i - is a good way to start if you like guitars...

AntLion ModMic - for the lazy...
