My external hard drive isn't being detected by my computer or disk manager

My seagate backup plus is not getting detected. I still see it in device manager though, but not in disk manager. Also, the LED light is switched off, but when I remove the led from the main portion, it starts blinking again if attached to the USB port. I tried using a different cable, no luck there. Tried using it on other usb ports, still won't work (my flashdrive works fine on these ports) Have I lost all my data?

From your post I assume you didn't backup the data that's on it? Not very smart.

If you can remove the drive from the enclosure and somehow install it in to a third-party enclosure (I say "somehow" because Seagate now invariably use proprietary connectors on the actual drive) you may find that the drive itself is still okay (the bridge-chip inside the Seagate enclosure is a common failure point).

Failing that, only a very expensive, specialist data recovery service will be able to rescue your data. Even more reason to keep backups, several backups in fact.
